Our Model

The relationship-based model of care lets the resident know that we are there to help them in any way possible as they work through their issues. We are truly focused on “alliance” rather than just compliance. Our Life Coaches, Therapists, and ancillary staff are upbeat, loving, and invested in fostering positive relationships with the residents and families we serve. We know that the combination of our external environment and the importance of caring relationships are catalysts to nurturing internal change.

Promise Village offers residential therapy and animal-assisted behavioral therapy for troubled teens to improve behavior of teenagers struggling with anger, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), attention deficit, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), substance abuse, depression, reactive attachment disorder (RAD), intermittent explosive disorder (IED), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, self-harm, or rebellion. Promise Village is a therapeutic residential program and school for troubled teenage boys, located in Michigan.

“Comedy for a Cause” has rapidly grown to be one of the most exciting and entertaining comedy shows in the Midwest! The past 39 events have attracted an audience of approx. 2,500 people each, reaching almost 100,000 in attendance. It has earned a strong rapport with nationally renowned comedians, professional agencies, businesses, and public officials.

About the Founder of Promise Village

boarding school director Dr. Tim Coldiron

Dr. Tim Coldiron is the Founder and Executive Director of Promise Village. From 1987 to 2000 he was the sole owner and clinical director of the largest free-standing outpatient mental health and substance abuse clinic in Michigan. He has been working professionally with children, adolescents, and their families for more than thirty years in clinical settings, youth organizations, churches, and youth residential treatment facilities. He holds a Ph.D. in Psychology, a Master’s in Clinical Social Work, a B.A. in Communications, and a B.A. in Education; in addition to this, he has learned a tremendous amount from the hundreds of families with whom he has been privileged to work alongside.

MIDWEST THERAPEUTIC BOARDING SCHOOLS BEHAVIORAL THERAPY FOR BOYS.

Promise Village School for Boys provides troubled teens with teen counseling and adolescent therapy. Our therapeutic residential schools serve Texas, California, Oregon and Washington on the West Coast and Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Nevada in the Southwest. In the southern and central states we serve teens in Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Louisiana, and Mississippi, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois and in the northern states Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Idaho in the north, and along the east coast from Georgia to Florida, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Teens are students at the Promise Village boarding school from the U.S. and North America and the Midwest Great Lakes region. It is one of few therapeutic programs for teens close to Detroit, Lansing, Chicago, Toledo, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, Jackson, Ann Arbor, Warren, Sterling Heights, Lansing, Flint, Dearborn, Saginaw and Livonia.
