Promise Village is an extraordinary residential treatment center and boarding school for at-risk boys ages 10-17. Counseling is Included Throughout Each Boy’s Day
In our boys home we use diverse forms of therapy in an eclectic model that lets us make a program tailor-made for each child. The cornerstone of our culture is our Life Coaches, staff who live and work directly with residents, being positive role models and looking out for everyday “teachable moments.” We call this the “milieu,” and it simply means that we embrace your child with an encouraging place conducive to change.
Boys Home where Animal-Assisted Therapy and Activities Support Counseling
Boys bond easily with animals even when they can’t or won’t accept people. Spending time with an animal-friend teaches empathy and breaks down walls, building relational skills that boys can apply later to human relationships. Dogs and especially horses are the emphasis of our popular and professional animal therapy, but our farm also includes exotic birds; outdoor cats; miniature goats, horses, and donkeys; llamas; and a friendly cow.
Boys work a step at a time through eight “PROMISES” principles designed for introducing personal values into their lives. In three stages, children and teens start from their strengths to make the values true in their own lives; then they encourage their peers to do so; and finally they practice what they have learned in the home environment.
Home for Boys in New York that Includes Improving Academic Performance and Motivations
We help children and teens identify the reasons for their former poor performance in school, and then we take care of those reasons. As they set goals for their lives and see how school contributes to those goals , they begin to want to improve their grades. With a personalized academic plan for each boy, support from Life Coaches and Therapists, and consistent attendance, students have steady, if not radical, improvement.
