Therapy is Included Throughout Each Boy’s Day
In our boys home we use assorted forms of therapy in an eclectic model that lets us devise a program perfectly suited for each boy. The cornerstone of our culture is our Life Coaches, staff who live and work in the home with residents, serving as positive role models and making the most of everyday “teachable moments.” We call this the “milieu,” and it simply means that we surround your child with a positive place conducive to change.
Boys Home where Animal-Assisted Therapy and Activities Support Counseling
Boys bond quickly with animals even if they can’t or won’t open up to people. Bonding with an animal-friend teaches empathy and opens communication, building relational skills that boys can apply later to human relationships. Dogs and especially horses are the main characters in our well-loved and professional animal therapy, but our farm also houses exotic birds; outdoor cats; miniature goats, horses, and donkeys; llamas; and a friendly cow.
Boys work a step at a time through eight “PROMISES” principles designed for introducing personal values into their lives. In three stages, children and teens start from their strengths to learn the values in their own lives; then they encourage their peers to do so; and finally they practice what they have learned in the home environment.
Home for Boys in Indiana that Includes Improving Academic Performance and Motivations
We help children and teens identify the reasons for their former troubles in school, and then we lessen those reasons. As they set objectives for their lives and see how school contributes to those goals , they have a new reason to do well in school. With an individualized academic plan for each boy, support from Life Coaches and Therapists, and consistent instruction, students display steady, if not drastic, improvement.
