Resident Letters
Jared
My name is Jared and I want to let everyone know that Promise Village has had a huge impact on my life. I’ve tried so many other programs and none of them worked. Half of the programs were only once a week, but Promise Village is a 24 hour program, has God in it and it is great. I’ve come a long way from where I started, and I’m so glad went there. At first I didn’t want to go, but that changed and so did my life. I will never be the same and I thank everyone at Promise Village for loving me and caring about me.

Promise Village helped me very much. Before I went I was doing completely wrong things that were completely opposite of what I knew I should be doing and what God wanted for me. I was into drugs, and I was so angry. Also, my relationship with my family was going down the drain. Promise Village has helped me tons. The Promise Village staff really care and the therapy helped me so much. Promise Village WILL change you for the better, but you have to be willing to accept the change. I know I am going to do well in life and I thank Promise Village for that.

Promise Village changed my life by bringing God into it. I was totally flat out lazy before going there. I truly learned work ethic and striving for excellence. It changed my instinct, the way I think, the way I work and the way I take in situations and adapt so I can solve them in a positive way. It was also a place where there are a lot of animals and has animal-assisted therapy. I love animals and they helped me while I was at Promise Village.

My favorite verse is “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6. Promise Village helped me with my anger and to forgive my dad. I grew each and every day I was there. My depression went away and I learned to focus better. I made great friends and loved the staff. I got better at playing the guitar and even sang and played several times for a crowd of over 2500 people. My life truly is changed for the better.

Before I came to Promise Village my life was a wreck. I went through so much. My parents got divorced when I was about 5 years old. I lived with my dad, and my dad got full custody of me. My dad got remarried, and I didn’t really like that so I disrespected my step-mother and didn’t listen. I failed in school and even got suspended. I was the class clown and going to the office was a regular thing for me. I just didn’t care. When I was at home I hung around the wrong kids and started smoking cigarettes. My assistant principal, Miss Buchanan, started looking for places for me to go and she found Promise Village. SO here I am at Promise Village doing better than ever. I’m getting good grades and currently have 4 A’s 2 B’s and 2 C’s. I also know things are going pretty good with my family. I haven’t touched a cigarette since I have been here. I really think that it’s not Promise Village that fixed me, but it was God because I found Him. But Promise Village introduced me to my best friend.

I am a Promise Village resident who has been here for a while and I am still going strong and making the right decisions. I came to Promise Village because of the negative things that I did and the decisions I made. I’m definitely not ashamed I came here. The activities are so much fun and the entire program helps a resident in so many ways. I now know that God brought me on this earth for a reason and to Promise Village for a reason. He is still working in my life and I am doing great. No more anger outbursts and major disrespect. I have been on the honor roll for a while now and look forward to a successful life. I also grew in my basketball skills while at PV. I am thankful that I was able to go to Promise Village and thank them for all they do for me.
